Jim Perkins will be the guest speaker at the 11 a.m. Sept. 3 Sunday worship service at Lake Tahoe Church of Christ. His sermon topic will be “Bible Message in a Nutshell.”

Worship services will be preceded by Bible class at 10 a.m. and evening services begin at 6 p.m. Lake Tahoe Church of Christ meets at 3609 Vanda Lee Way. Call (530) 544-0909.

Jazz Mass set for Sunday

Our Lady of Tahoe Catholic Church will conduct its annual Jazz Mass at 12:15 p.m. Sept. 3. The Mass celebrant will be The Most Rev. Randolph R. Calvo, Bishop of Reno with celebrants the Rev. Richard L. De Molen, the Rev. John Bain and Deacon Dan McHugh.

Jazz music will be provided by Chuck Hughes, drums; Chuck De Laura, upright bass; Bob Moskal, tenor sax, alto sax, clarinet and flute; and Chris Landrum keyboard. The singer will be Jackie Landrum, a popular South Shore vocalist.

Music will begin 30 minutes before Mass starts and will be played during the celebration of the Mass. A parish picnic and barbecue will follow the Mass. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Our Lady of Tahoe Catholic Church is located on Elk Point Road in Zephyr Cove, 11Ú2 miles from the Stateline in Nevada. Turn toward the lake at the signal light.
