Wheel of Fortune pays off for visitors from California
After pooling their money together, a quartet of slot players won a reported $1,593,081 at the Peppermill Hotel Casino in Reno Friday night.
Liz and Ed Eckermann, Sharon Fernandez and Marlene Bettencourt, all from Central California, each put $20 in a progressive Wheel of Fortune Slot Machine and took turns pulling the handle. Early on they had been hoping for three 7s.
Just before Bettencourt took her next turn someone in the group said, “Heck with the 7s, lets get three Wheel of Fortune symbols,” Eckermann said. On the ensuing pull three symbols lined up, ensuring the group a Mega Jackpot victory. In accordance with International Game Technology rules, the winners will be paid in annual installments.
