STATELINE, Nev. – Golf will go on today at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Club in Stateline where the Whittell Warriors boys team takes a one stroke lead into the final 18-holes of 2A championship play.

With an opening round 422, the Warriors are one up on second place Sage Ridge (423) who hopes to thwart the plans of a repeat title for Whittell.

Trevor Fairbank scorched the Genoa Lakes course in Gardnerville yesterday and is one stroke back of the individual leader Foster Kenton of Mineral County who posted a low round of 75.

“Trevor played well,” head coach Steve Maltese said this morning. “He’s excited and looking forward to another good round today.”

Thomas Kolesnik is also in the mix after shooting a first round 79. Whittell’s team score got a boost from Nick Smith (83), Jake Williams (89), Derek Werke (95) and Rob Caliger (97).

Spectators are welcome at the course this afternoon where a Nevada 2A state individual and team champion will be crowned.
