Whittell student named state finalist in pageant

Darrien Peck of George Whittell High School is a state finalist in the National American Junior Teen Miss of Nevada July 12-14.

Peck, 16, will be a sophomore at GWHS next year. She is in the Junior Teen 13-15 division and will compete against other teens from Nevada. Peck is a dancer with Forever Dance Competition team, plays volleyball for GWHS and skis at Heavenly. She also enjoys being with family, friends and hiking around Lake Tahoe. Her sponsors include Joan Elias, House of Ski, Bright Beginnings Inc. and Roundhill Jewelers.

According to a press release, the pageant emphasizes inner beauty, poise and presentation, self confidence, good sportsmanship and setting and achieving personal goals.



The pageant will be held at JW Marriott Resort in Las Vegas. The winner will receive a $1,000 cash award, the official crown and banner, a bouquet of roses and air transportation to compete in the national pageant in California, where she will also receive a tour of Hollywood and two tickets to Disneyland.
