Whittell students win art awards

The Carson Valley Arts Association has awarded scholarships to graduating seniors from Whittell and Douglas high schools.

The scholarships were awarded to students are continuing their art education.

Whittell High School:



This year’s $1,000 CVAA Elizabeth Johnson Award goes to Sirena Mesa from Lake Tahoe. Mesa will continue her education in animation at Lake Tahoe Community College.

A $250 award goes to Holly Brumbach, also from Lake Tahoe. Brumbach will continue her education in digital media at Western Nevada College.



Douglas High School:

This year’s $1,000 CVAA Elizabeth Johnson Award goes to Justin Peets, from Markleeville. Peets will pursue a graphic arts education at California State University at Chico.

A $250 award goes to Brandi Graves, from Gardnerville.

Graves will continue in the visual arts at University of Nevada, Reno.

CVAA’s best wishes go with these students, as they continue in their art education.
