WHS girls lose third straight MRL game
Whittell High dropped its third straight Mount Rose League girls’ basketball game on Tuesday at Sparks, struggling with ball control and shooting.
The Warriors pulled within a bucket in the final 1:40, but Sparks cashed in four free throws to finalize the 38-32 victory.
“Sparks played a good game,” said Whittell coach Tom Esposito. “They were aggressive, competitive on the boards, knocked down some threes and hit their free throws.”
A runner by Sierra Forvilly pulled Whittell to within 34-32 with under two minutes left, but Sparks held the Warriors scoreless until the final buzzer.
Amanda Harris led Whittell with 15 points.
It was Whittell’s fourth game in five days.
