Widowed Persons Association offers social activities

With the coming of snow, widowed persons sometimes become victims of “cabin fever” as they deal with being alone and largely indoors. If this strikes a familiar note, do not succumb to loneliness. The Lake Tahoe chapter of the Widowed Persons Association of California invites all widowed persons to participate in its activities.

Interested members of the group meet each month for no-host luncheons, dinners and pizza at various restaurants. A monthly potluck dinner, social time and brief meeting is held in the home of a member to round out the eating events.

Members join for walks or hikes in the summer and snowshoeing or cross-country skiing in the winter. They also join for trips to out-of-town events as well as local theater and other events.

The organization provides a vehicle for persons to meet others who are learning to cope with being alone and to perhaps arrange a dinner or a movie out with another.

All widowed persons are invited to explore membership by attending any scheduled event except the monthly potluck meeting. To learn more about membership and receive a calendar of events, widowed persons may call (530) 542-4912.
