Memorial services will take place Nov. 30 for William M. Morris, who passed away Nov. 27, 2005, at Barton Memorial Hospital with his family and church members at his side.

William was born Nov. 22, 1923, in Finley, Okla., to Paul and Ester Morris. In 1954 he received his general building contractors license and opened Morris Builders. He built numerous schools, commercial buildings, fire stations, hospitals and Quigley Baseball Park. He left Southern California in 1975 and moved to South Lake Tahoe, where he built custom homes until his retirement in 1986. His son, Paul took over the business.

William served as an usher at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Linwood, Calif., for 21 years. He donated his time and building materials to build the lighting booth for the Christmas pageant production at St. Pauls. He was an assistant Boy Scout Master for nine years; a member of the South Lake Tahoe Lions Club, where he played the part of Santa Claus for Breakfast with Santa for 10 years; a member of the Basin Bowlers and the South Lake Tahoe Yacht Club; and a Mason and past patron of the Order of Eastern Star.



He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed walking through his back yard to the Upper Truckee river to fish. He also enjoyed taking his boat to Emerald Bay to watch the eagles. He was a hunter and enjoyed hunting in British Columbia.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Irene Morris of South Lake Tahoe; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Beverly Morris of South Lake Tahoe; daughter, Darlene Morris of South Lake Tahoe; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Jack Hayes of Tacoma, Wash.; brothers, Kenneth Morris of Black Springs, Ark., and Claude Morris of Caddo Gap, Ark.; sisters, Cledis Standridge of Mt. Ida, Ark., and Della Mae Ramer of Trinity, Texas; grandchildren, Jonny, Debbie and Billy; and great-grandchildren, Michael, Natalie, Quinton, Tyler and Sage.



Memorial services will begin at 2 p.m. Nov. 30 at Hope Lutheran Church of the Sierra, 930 Julie Lane.

Arrangements are by McFarlane Mortuary.
