Barton HealthCare System

For the 13th year in a row, more than 140 avid golfers will spend a day doing what they love best, while helping to raise money for the Barton Hospital Foundation’s Endowment Fund.

Since its inception, the Genoa Lakes Golf properties have been a partner in Barton’s golf tournament fundraiser, which takes place Aug. 29 with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Genoa Lakes Golf Resort. The cost is $175 per person for golf, lunch and contest entries. To register call (530) 543-5614.

Golfer amenity package distribution takes place at registration, as does mulligan sales, which are $5 each, maximum two per person. Raffle tickets will be $5 each or five tickets for $20. The scramble format tournament begins at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. There will be plenty of opportunities for men and women to win prizes for longest drives, holes in one and closest to the holes. A 2007 Lincoln MKX is the prize on hole 17 for a hole in one, sponsored by South Shore Motors.

The awards ceremony luncheon follows with a live auction and the announcement of raffle winners. The team that comes in first place wins a foursome at Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course. The team that places last wins golf lessons, courtesy of Valley Golf Shop in Minden. For the team with the winning poker hand, each player receives a $100 dining certificate to Harrah’s/Harveys.

Support Local Journalism

Barton’s Foundation has averaged more than $40,000 of annual income from the golf tournament. Earnings from the endowment fund have gone toward the Healing Design Project to enhance patient, visitor and staff environments for a healthier, more healing and private setting while at Barton Hospital. With the community’s support, Barton Hospital Foundation is able to have a positive impact on the quality of health care delivered, as well as plan for a better tomorrow by increasing the Endowment Fund.
