Wishing Tree seeks donations for displaced kids

The South Lake Tahoe Branch of the El Dorado County Library is ready to share the season of giving with the community through its annual Holiday Wishing Tree.

Together with Court Appointed Special Advocates and the South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center, more than 100 ornaments have been placed on the Wishing Tree that identifies children and their wish lists. All community members are encouraged to stop by and pick a child, then return the unwrapped gifts back to the library by 4 p.m. Dec. 8. Library hours are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

There are many children in the community who have been displaced from their homes due to abuse, neglect or domestic violence. These children are living in shelters, foster homes or with relatives. They are displaced from the comforts of their own home this Christmas, the innocent victims of others’ actions. The Wishing Tree, graciously provided by the El Dorado County Library, CASA and the South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center, along with the community’s involvement, provides hope for those children who have had so much taken away.

The joy of giving and the warmth from knowing you have helped will last throughout the season. Stop by the library soon and warm up your holidays.
