Woman assaulted near Caesars parking

Police are looking for a man they believe attempted to assault a woman Sunday in the casino corridor.

The woman, a 33-year-old from South Lake Tahoe, told Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies that she was first approached around 3 a.m. after she left Lily’s nightclub at the Horizon Casino Resort. A blonde, white man, in his early 20s, told the woman that she could only catch a taxi at Caesars Tahoe across the street.

The woman said she walked down to the stoplight at Upper Lake Parkway, crossed and proceeded up the loop road toward the entrance to Caesars’ parking lot. She told deputies that she noticed the man following her at a distance.

The man pushed her from behind onto a grassy area between the sidewalk and parking lot, knocking out one of the eyepieces on her glasses. The woman said the man shoved his fingers down her throat to prevent her from screaming, and tried to take off his pants and hers. The woman said her pants were too tight for the assailant to remove.

The woman broke away enough to scream while several cars passed on the road. The man ran away through the Caesars’ parking lot toward the California state line.

The woman then ran to Lakeside Inn & Casino where she contacted a security guard, deputies said.

Anyone with information about this assault is asked to contact the sheriff’s department at (775) 586-7250 or Secret Witness at (775) 586-7295.
