Woman dies in a motorcycle crash

California Highway Patrol / Patrol officers investigate the scene of a motorcycle accident that killed a 23-year-old woman.

A 23-year-old woman died Sunday when she lost control of the motorcycle she was driving and crashed into a guardrail on Highway 50 West of South Lake Tahoe.

The unidentified woman was traveling in the eastbound lane, near Twin Bridges. The accident happened at 5:20 p.m.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed when she entered a precautionary 30 mph turn. The rider lost control of the bike, slid on her left side and slammed into a guardrail.

The unidentified woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
