SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – A 36-year-old South Lake Tahoe woman was found dead in the Lake Tahoe Community College lobby Friday afternoon, police said.

The woman was seated in a chair and may have been dead for several hours before a staff member noticed she was not breathing and called police, said Sgt. Shannon Laney.

Police received a report of the unresponsive woman at 1:10 p.m. and started to perform CPR, but attempts to revive the woman were unsuccessful, Laney said.

The woman was pronounced dead at 1:20 p.m.

The cause of death is unknown.

There were no signs of foul play, Laney say. Police do not have information on any medical issues that may have caused the woman’s death.

Police did not release the name of the woman pending notification of family members.

She was a student at the college, according to a statement from the college.
