Woman in Saturday crash in Carson City dies from injuries
A South Lake Tahoe woman who was a passenger on a speeding motorcycle that crashed into a pickup Saturday night in Carson City has died of her injuries, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
Audrey G. Rugamas, 21, and motorcycle driver Andrey L. Gallegos, 20, of Sparks were hospitalized in critical condition at Renown Regional Medical Center after the high-speed crash at Fairview Drive and Roop Street, a busy Carson City intersection. Rugamas was taken off life support on Wednesday, the NHP said.
Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong has said Gallegos, who remains in critical condition, was spotted speeding multiple times Saturday night. Both Rugamas and Gallegos were thrown from the motorcycle, which was totally demolished in the accident.
