SOUTH LAKE TAHOE — A female passenger who was involved in a motorcycle crash Sunday evening died as a result of her injuries, South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) Sgt. Pierre Herring said Thursday morning.

The woman was declared dead Monday at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, where she was flown following the collision.

Police said the name of the woman was not cleared to be released as of Thursday.

The male driver of the motorcycle was taken to Barton Memorial Hospital in South Lake Tahoe via ambulance after the incident. An update on his status was not provided.

The pair was injured when they collided with a pickup truck on Lake Tahoe Boulevard near the intersection of Modesto Avenue a few minutes before 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The two were reportedly ejected from the motorcycle. The driver of the pickup truck reported he was uninjured at the scene, Herring said Monday.

Photos of the incident show a badly damaged motorcycle in the aftermath of the crash.

It was unclear if the motorcyclists were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, Herring said Thursday.
