Woman pulled from lake after accident

A woman was found floating unconscious a quarter mile from Tahoe Keys at Lake Tahoe after being spotted by a sailboat crew.

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, which handles coroner’s cases, said that the woman had died, but referred other questions to South Lake Tahoe police.

The unidentified woman was taken to Barton Memorial Hospital. She was apparently alive after being rescued. South Lake Tahoe Police were unavailable for comment.

The woman had been on a personal watercraft, which was spotted several yards away from her by the same sailboat crew that pulled her from the water and revived her.

At about 6:15 p.m. South Lake Tahoe police dispatchers were contacted by one of the two people on the sailboat by cell phone.

According to radio reports, the woman was pulled from the water and given CPR. The person who was not giving CPR was able to flag down a motorboat whose crew pulled up alongside the sailboat to help with CPR, according to dispatch reports.

Paramedics were dispatched to Lighthouse Shores near the Tahoe Keys Marina, and were quickly taken from the shore to the sailboat.

The woman was then transported from the sailboat to shore by way of motorboat and taken to the hospital.
