Women’s Center clarifies mission
The South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center has no involvement with the “Women’s Gifting Circle.” We have received numerous inquiries about this activity and we want the community to know that we did not start nor are involved in this pyramid scheme. The agency agrees with District Attorney Hans Uthe’s statement in a Tahoe Daily Tribune article dated March 13, 2001. In that article he said, “They can call it what they want to. It’s an illegal pyramid scheme.”
The Women’s Center does not endorse any such activity.
As stated in our mission statement: The South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center is dedicated to improving the emotional, social and economic conditions of women and families in the community through programs and services that address domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and basic need.
