Women’s Center recognizes Domestic Violence Awareness month today, Tuesday

With today launching national Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center will host a number of events to recognize victims and survivors of violence.

South Lake Tahoe’s Silent Witness Memorial and Exhibit will take place today, 6 p.m., in an English ceremony and tomorrow, 6 p.m. in Spanish. The event will be at the Women’s Center, 2941 Lake Tahoe Blvd.

Silent Witness is an art installation displayed in communities across the nation to raise awareness of the deadly and devastating effects of intimate partner violence and homicide. Silhouettes will be displayed bearing the names and true stories of victims from our local area who have been brutally murdered by intimate partners.

The community is encouraged to attend. Call the center at (530) 544-2118 for more information.
