Women’s Center: Remain aware even after the month is over

Liliana E. Sanchez
South Lake Tahoe Women's Center

As we approach the end of April, when the snow begins to melt and the flowers start to bloom, the South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone in our community for supporting our fundraising efforts to benefit our local Sexual Assault Response Team. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Child Abuse Prevention Month, and although the month has come to an end, South Lake Tahoe Women’s Center’s efforts to put an end sexual assault and child abuse will continue. Remember that these issues are not month specific, and that unfortunately this violence happens every day in our community, in our neighborhood, and/or next door. The efforts to end violence in our community must continue with each of us. We can do this by educating ourselves to recognize warning signs, learning what to do when confronted with these issues and knowing how to support victims of these crimes.

The Women’s Center is available to provide education and information to children and adults in our community through presentations and other outreach efforts.

For information on how you can become part of stopping sexual assault and child abuse in our community, please contact the Women’s Center at (530) 544-2118.
