Work will delay Kingsbury commuters

Michael Schneider

Travelers to the Carson Valley will experience delays this construction season. The Tahoe Basin side of Kingsbury Grade will be outfitted with several improvements.

The Nevada Department of Transportation will complete water drainage improvements, install curbs and gutters, resurface the roadway and make improvements to an intersection.

Although much of the work will be done at night to reduce traffic congestion, delays of up to 20 minutes can be expected through the four-mile stretch of State Route 207 between the summit and U.S. Highway 50.

Most of the work in the first few weeks will be done at night.

It is necessary for construction crews to work in the daytime while installing curbs and gutters along Kingsbury Grade from Pine Ridge Drive to U.S. Highway 50.

Improvements to visibility at the intersection of Kingsbury Grade and Tramway Drive also will be undertaken.

The work began Sunday night and will continue into October.

Normal daytime work hours will be from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. Nighttime hours will be from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Friday.
