Workshop speaker to present ways to improve communication
March 14, 2003
The Tahoe-Douglas and South Lake Tahoe chambers of commerce will sponsor a communications workshop from 9 a.m. to noon April 2 at the Tahoe Seasons Resort.
Donna Hartley, owner of Hartley International, will be the guest speaker and will present ” Speak and Make a Difference.” She is a member of the National Speakers Association and has been featured on NBC, ABC, PBS and the Learning Channel as well as in New Woman magazine and The New York Times.
According to Hartley, “The best way to communicate to the businesses within your community is with accuracy, authenticity, directness and swiftness and by using the power of presentation, projection and persuasion.”
A preview of what the audience will discover in this energetic presentation is that 55 percent of how people perceive you is by your body language, 38 percent by your voice inflection and 7 percent by your words. The secret to giving an excellent speech is to commit, prepare and rehearse. Hartley’s presentation will delve into each of these areas and provide information on how to address them.
People who attended Hartley’s workshop on “Is Your Attitude Showing, presented by the chambers last November, know they can look forward to another great seminar.
The cost of the workshop is $35 for chamber members, $40 for nonmembers and $30 each for three or more attendees from the same business. To register and for more information call (530) 541-5255 or come by the South Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce, 3066 Lake Tahoe Blvd.
