Workshops and spiritual rituals at St. Francis

The Rev. Darrell Rupiper, O.M.I. will be in residence at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Incline Village through June 4 to preach at weekend Masses, conduct two workshops, and lead a spiritual ritual in preparation for World Environment Day on June 5.

His presence culminates three years of “Eco-Missions” that he has been leading at parishes and institutions associated with his order, the Oblates of Mary Immaculate. The first workshop from 7 to 8:30 p.m. May 31 will focus on “The Earth as Sacrament: Finding God in Things Created.” The topic of second workshop from 7 to 8:30 p.m. June 1 will center on “Finding Our True Place in the Earth Community.”

On June 3 he will lead a spiritual ritual celebrating “Our Sacred Creation Story” from 3 to 4:30 p.m. A Eucharistic Mass will follow at 5 p.m. St. Francis of Assisi Parish is using the period to learn what Catholics can draw about Earth from their depository of faith and put their faith into action. Since 1990 the Pope of the Roman Catholic Church and bishops in diocese throughout the world have been calling the faithful to cherish God’s creation and to act responsibly toward God’s other creatures with whom we share our temporal home. Catholics and friends throughout the area are welcome to attend. To reserve a place at each workshop and at the spiritual ritual, call the parish office at (775) 831-0490.

There is no charge for these events. Donations are appreciated.
