The South Tahoe Wrestling Club is gearing up for the season while celebrating its 10th anniversary. More than 350 boys and girls have gone through this program, which was started through the efforts of David Borges, Daniel Henson and Duane Wallace. Although Henson has gone on to other activities, both Borges and Wallace have remained steadfast in their commitment to the program.

South Tahoe Wrestling Club services boys and girls ages 5 to 20. Also, they are always looking for adults with wrestling experience to help with coaching. Their season begins at 6 p.m. Jan. 3 at South Tahoe Middle School. The club practices every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday that school is in session from January through March. The cost is $60 per child and discounts are offered for multiple-children families. The fee includes equipment, coaching, USA Wrestling membership and end-of-year banquet. Limited scholarships are available with certain restrictions.

In preparation for this year’s season the club has scheduled a parents’ meeting at 6 p.m. Nov. 30 at Borges Chiropractic, 2074 Lake Tahoe Blvd., No. 5. If you or your child would like to participate in South Tahoe Wrestling Club’s 2005 season attend the meeting or call Tami Wallace or David Borges at (530) 544-5800.
