Writer hit by painful disease

Friends of longtime South Shore resident Don Regis-Bilar have been conducting a fundraiser on his behalf. The well-known writer and fundraiser has been stricken with a severe case of shingles, a debilitating disease characterized by chronic pain.

“Don is expected to fully recover,” said Kim Stephenson, who is coordinating the effort. “But like most of us who will be missing months of income due to being sick, he can use some help.”

“Don is someone who has been raising money and awareness for a variety of causes and individuals for many years,” said Janice Eastburn, who is helping with the effort. “This is a good time for those who know of his good works to reciprocate some of his generosity.”

Contact Stephenson at (530) 577-1965. Contributions may be sent in Don Regis-Bilar’s name to U.S. Bank, 2850 Lake Tahoe Blvd., South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150.
