Yacht club plans activities

The South Lake Tahoe Yacht Club has planned several exciting activities for the month of August. A “Beach Bash” is scheduled at Round Hill Pines Resort on Tuesday, with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m. For reservations call Nancy Mushines at (530) 542-7144.

“Cruise with the Commodore” to Vikingsholm Beach on Aug. 18. Meet in the Tahoe Keys west channel at 10:30 a.m. and proceed to the beach for a relaxing day on the glorious shores of Emerald Bay. It’s a “yo-yo” day (you’re on your own). Bring your picnic and libations. For more information call Commodore Lew Long at (530) 577-8209.

Join club members and their guests on a Safari Rose Cruise on Aug. 26. Boarding will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the yacht will depart at 5 p.m. An open bar will be available and dinner will be provided while we cruise the lake. Call Jerry Kahler at (530) 541-1120 for reservations (limited to 60).

Pack your camping gear on your boat and join the club for an evening at Emerald Bay Boat Camp on Aug. 29. Reservations for a mooring ball and campsite are a must. Call Cruise Captain Peggy Mackwood at (530) 544-1032 for additional information.

Upcoming events include a tour of several El Dorado County wineries with Golden State Wine Tours. Cruise Captain Paul Jenkins at (530) 577-7181 is planning the outing and will be taking reservations.

The South Lake Tahoe Yacht Club meets and plans activities year round. Visit our Web site at http://www.southlaketahoeyachtclub.com. The club serves members in both California and Nevada and is open to all who are interested in boating and good times. The club is affiliated with the Pacific Inter-Club Yacht Association. Owning a boat is not a requirement for membership.
