Yard and garden guide is available: Book is collaborative effort by agencies
August 12, 2008
The Sierra Nevada Yard & Garden guide, for yards and gardens throughout the 400-mile-long mountain range and California, includes specifics for Sierra vegetation zones.
“Defend your home from wildfire, protect water quality, create a low maintenance yard and more,” said Sierra Nevada Alliance water program associate Genevieve Jessop Marsh. “This guide shows homeowners how to get beautiful gardens and yards that don’t require fuss for folks in the Sierra foothills, eastern Sierra and high country.”
Many experts were involved in writing, editing and the guide, which is available for free at the Sierra Nevada Alliance Web site or by ordering as a hard copy for a $14 shipping and handling fee.
The California Resource Conservation Districts, Sierra Nevada Conservancy, University of Nevada Cooperative Extension and the State Water Resources Control Board helped create and support the guide.
