Young actors can audition for ‘Pied Piper’

Tracy Owen Chapman

Calling all rats, town kids, cooks, council members, assistant directors and mayor’s sons and daughters because “The Pied Piper” is coming to take the stage Aug. 11.

Children from the Lake Tahoe community are invited to learn how to act and sing along with an opportunity to be on-stage at Sierra House Elementary School. Children ages 5 to 17 who want to be a part of the action can audition on Tuesday, Aug. 7 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at Sierra House Elementary School multipurpose room. Please arrive at 10 a.m. and plan to stay the full two hours.

Approximately 60 children will be cast to appear in the show with the Missoula Children’s Theatre tour actor and directors. No advance preparation is necessary and the first rehearsal (depending on role) begins approximately 30 minutes after the auditions.

Rehearsals are Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at the Sierra House School multipurpose Room. Please do not audition unless you have a clear schedule for the week. Cast members must be available for all rehearsals and performances.

For Pied Piper fans who want to come enjoy the Aug. 11 shows, tickets may be purchased at the door and are $7 for adults, $3 for children and $5 for seniors. Showtimes are 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The Missoula Children’s Theatre is a nonprofit organization based in Missoula, Mont. The residency in South Lake Tahoe is made possible by the Tahoe Arts Project.
