Young Chautauqua program inviting new participants

Douglas Co. Historical Society’s Young Chautauqua 2012 program will begin with an informational meeting at 7 p.m. Jan. 10 at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center.

Students 4th through 12th grades who are interested in drama, history or speech are invited to attend. This informational meeting will provide an idea of what’s expected of participants.

The Chautauqua program has sessions every other week until June. There is also a party and a final performance under the tent at the Mormon Station Park in Genoa in June. The Young Chautauquans also receive invitations to perform out in the community.

Flyers went out to schools in October. Home-school students are also encouraged to join.

Young Chautauquans have a great time and learn about historical characters.
