Young pianists will perform at Valhalla

Jim Grant / Tahoe Daily Tribune/ Nathan Machida, 17, is one of 12 young pianists who will perform at 4 p.m. June 24 at the Valhalla Boathouse Theater.

A special piano performance by 12 students, ages 8 to 17, invited by the Northern Nevada Music Teacher’s Association, is scheduled at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Valhalla Boathouse Theater, Tallac Historic Site.

The NNMTA has invited players of distinction from many levels of repertoire. Some have performed for the acclaimed Steinway Series, which is held Tuesday evenings in July in Reno. Others are winners at various competitions and festivals.

The performance will provide a glorious hour of inspiration for even the youngest student of music.

Attendees will have an opportunity to experience the joy of piano performance on the historical Lucky Baldwin Steinway Grand Piano on-stage with a spectacular view of Lake Tahoe in the background.

A $5 donation is suggested at the door and parking is free.
