Tahoe Youth and Family Services celebrated a grand opening of its Drop-in Center on Sept. 6.

The Drop-in Center is designed for teens who are homeless or couch-surfing, offering job searches, clothing, food, shower and laundry facilities. Cheyenne Lane, Safe Place and Street Outreach coordinator, heads the new center.

An open house was also featured at the event. The evening was filled with music, food and a silent auction fundraiser. A newly remodeled children’s therapy/playroom was open for viewing.

Heavenly Valley Resort presented a check for $3,000 for the drop-in center. Other major contributors include the Moore Family Foundation, which donated $5,700, and the Mathewson Charitable Lead Trust, which donated $24,300.
