Youth Commission meets Thursday to select officers

Karen Houser
Boys and Girls Club of Lake Tahoe

The next South Lake Tahoe Youth Commission Focus Team meeting is scheduled for this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club, 1100 Lyons Ave.

At the last meeting, the team decided that each week they would volunteer and/or select a team of youth to facilitate the meeting: chairperson, co-chair, secretary, etc. Shawn and Mary, advisers to the program will be there to assist and facilitate as well.

Save the Date: The Youth Summit that the group is preparing to host has a date, thanks to the support of Stanford Camp and their partnership with an affordable rate. The summit will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday November 2-3. The youth will be looking to community members, business members, city council, etc., to be available to conduct workshops and activities for the summit. They anticipate hosting the event for approximately 35 youth in the seventh through 12th grade, along with students from Lake Tahoe Community College. More information will be available at a later date. For information, call (530) 542-0838.

Karen Houser is the executive director of the Boys and Girls Club of South Lake Tahoe.
