Youth soccer league taking registrations

Registration for a youth soccer league at Bijou Community School is under way.

Leagues are being offered for boys 10-13 and 14-17. Sign up today or Saturday from 5-7:30 at the school’s soccer field. Additional sign-ups are scheduled for May 4, 7 and 10-14 at the same location.

Parents should bring their child’s birth certificate and $40 to registration. The league fees will cover the cost of uniforms and insurance.

“We want to attract more kids, and we’re going to try to play the whole summer this year,” said league president Martin Jimenez. “We had 120 kids last year.”

Play begins on May 15 and will continue through the end of August. Games will be played on Saturday afternoons prior to school letting out for the summer, and Monday games will be added during the summer.
