Zephyr Cove School receives new interactive learning tool

Provided to the TribuneZephyr Cove Elementary School second graders Trinity Kirvida-McGowan (left) and Logan Chapman work with the new Hitachi StarBoard purchased by the school's parent club.

The parent club at Zephyr Cove Elementary School contributed a new Hitachi StarBoard to the second grade class. The large interactive screen is created for presentations and looks like a traditional whiteboard.

Teacher Susan Desrosiers said the class already used the technology to view PowerPoint presentations about Veterans Day and view photos from the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

“The kids are astonished by the touch screen,” Desrosiers said. “My Homework Club students used the board to take Reading Counts quizzes. It is a wonderful educational tool.”
