Zephyr Cove, Whittell students return home

At 3:02 this afternoon staff at Zephyr Cove Elementary School loaded students onto their respective school buses to leave the campus for the day.

Whittell High School students were seen leaving the school in private vehicles around 2:45 this afternoon, while some were being taken to Zephyr Cove Resort to be picked up by parents.

Authorities continue to search the area for a man ” described by a teacher’s aide ” as dressed in black and carrying a gun who was seen late this morning near Whittell High School and Zephyr Cove Elementary.



The elementary school and nearby Whittell High School were placed on lockdown after the call came in at 11:30 a.m.
