8 different Vikings score in South Tahoe girls’ soccer big win over Sparks
Eight different players scored goals Thursday to lift the South Tahoe Vikings girls’ soccer team to an 8-0 victory over the visiting Sparks Railroaders.
Vikings freshman Kelsey Hogan had a goal, her seventh on the season, and two assists and freshman Giovana De Loia and junior Andrea Vazquez added a goal and assist to lead the offensive attack.
Also scoring goals for the Vikings (6-5-1, 5-2-1 3A Northern League) were senior Bailey Segers, her sixth of the season, junior Lexi Trejo, sophomore Morrison Salmon, junior Quinn Simpson and senior Samantha Frates. Junior Riley Turner added an assist.
Freshman keeper Phoebe Barkann recorded her fifth clean sheet of the season.
The Vikings are in third place in the league behind Truckee (7-0-1) and North Tahoe (7-1-1) and are percentage points ahead of Spring Creek (5-3-1) and two points ahead of Incline (4-2-2).
The Vikings next will play Incline at 4 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, at Incline Village.
