All-Stars beat Carson team
A seventh-inning single by Juliano Sparzo scored Ty Sprock with the deciding run as the South Tahoe 11-12 All-Stars edged Carson American 4-3 in a Little League district game Wednesday in Reno.
Tyler Sharp trigged the winning rally by hitting his second double of the game. Sprock was inserted as a pinch-runner and advanced to third on a fielder’s choice. Sparzo then supplied the winning hit.
“The kids needed this. Now they are excited and know that we belong down here,” said Tahoe manager Kevin Higgins, whose club lost its opener 10-0 to Sparks Centennial a night earlier.
Sharp was a difference-maker on the mound, too, allowing two runs and striking out six.
“Tyler gave us six innings of unbelievable pitching,” Higgins said.
After falling behind 1-0, Taylor Weik keyed a three-run South Tahoe fourth inning with a double.
