Alm rolls his third career 300

Our top men’s bowler of the week goes to George Alm, who rolled his third career 300 game earlier this month at Tahoe Bowl. Unable to properly encapsulate Alm’s impressive feat, I have decided to let Alm to describe the feeling for himself.
“No matter if it’s your first 300 or your third, there is no better feeling,” Alm said. “I just turned 40. Looking back I would not have said, ‘Hey I’m going to have three 300 games and one 800 series by this time in my life.’
“I had the first nine strikes and starting to throw my 10th frame I got up there nice and relaxed and struck the first one. I was so in the zone that I did not even notice over half the league was standing all around the lane. I don’t care what anyone says, the 11th strike is always the hardest.”
After Alm completed his perfect game – 12 consecutive strikes – more than 40 tourists and locals erupted in cheers.
“What a great feeling it is,” Alm said. “I hope to have that happen again real soon. I encourage everyone to come out and bowl. If I can shoot a 300, anyone can.”
Alm’s awesome performance earned him Shott’s Men’s Bowler of the Week. Our top women’s bowlers of the week, meanwhile, are Sandy Jackson and Terri Tepper.
Jackson bowls in the Goofer’s League on the 3 Hens and a Rooster team and maintains a 187 average. Jackson exploded for games of 200 and 258 en route to her season-high 649 series. Her impressive performance earned her Shott’s Women’s Bowler of the Week.
Tepper bowls on the It’s All About Us team in the Guys and Dolls League and carries a 160 average. Tepper fired a 232 game en route to a 606 series. Stay tuned next week for more bowling action.
