Barracuda Championship announces player commitments
RENO, Nev. — Less than two weeks away from teeing off, the Barracuda Championship has announced the exciting addition of Jason Allred, John Daly, David Duval, Retief Goosen, Patrick Rodgers and David Toms to the 2015 tournament field. The tournament will be held Aug. 3-9 at Montreux Golf and Country Club.
One thing each of the six PGA Tour professionals has in common is they are all returning players to the Barracuda Championship. Past major champions Daly, Duval, Goosen and Toms have been coming to Montreux for several years now.
“It’s great to see so many return athletes to the Barracuda Championship,” tournament director Chris Hoff said. “From the Modified Stableford format to our unbeatable climate, the beauty of Montreux and overall atmosphere, the players really love this tournament. It’s great for the Reno-Tahoe area, and we’re proud to be part of it.”
Only in his second year on the professional golf circuit, Rodgers currently sits at 17th in Web.com Tour rankings and is returning to the Barracuda Championship for a second time on the heels of an impressive collegiate career at Stanford University. Allred returns to the tournament after his tie for sixth in 2014 with a sponsor’s exemption.
Other returning players to the field include Ricky Barnes, who tied for eighth at last year’s tournament, 2010 champion Matt Bettencourt, 2012 champion J.J. Henry, Andres Romero, 2004 and 2005 champion Vaughn Taylor and several others.
