Basher, Carter lead Kokanee runners at Shasta

Lindsay Basher and Grant Carter led a small pack of Lake Tahoe Community College runners in a cross country meet Saturday in Shasta, Calif.

Basher, making her Kokanee debut, was 27th in the women’s 41-runner field with a time of 23 minutes, 51 seconds. Tashia Steele was right behind her teammate, finishing 28th in 24:02. Steele’s time was 30 seconds better than her previous meet.

Cassandra Goodson posted a winning time of 20:08. Lane Community College captured both the women’s and men’s titles.

Carter and Dan Wolfers were clearly the Kokanee men’s top performers. Carter was 29th in 24:36, while Wolfers came in 42nd at 25:28.

Rowdy Sargeson’s 21:03 clocking won the men’s title.

The Kokanee nearly fielded a complete team as Frank Kuechenmeister came in 48th (26:21) in his first race and Michael Del Rosa made a 6-minute improvement as he finished 52nd in 26:57.

Fifth-year Kokanee coach Terry Adams-Schmidt is looking for more runners to fill out her teams.
