Tribune staff report

Several local BMX riders participated in the Black Jack Nationals in Reno at the Livestock Events Center over Labor Day weekend.

The American Bicycle Association sponsors the annual, three-day event that includes some 2,000 participants from around the country. Included was a pre-race party and plenty of national races.

Bringing home the bragging rights for South Lake Tahoe were Jack Lyle, who placed first all three days in the 12 intermediate class, and Jeremy White, who was third in the same class.

Michael Jacobs finished second in the 12 novice division and Lucas Miller was seventh. Geddy Miller placed second in 8 novice, Hanna Alpaugh was runner-up in 7 girls and Bill Clinton was second in the 26-30 novice.

Other local competitors who participated in the event were Dylan Allgor (10 intermediate), Philip Jacobs (8 novice), Liam Loftis (7 novice), Holly “The Rocket” Richardson (16 girls) and Patty Metzger (31-35 girls’ cruiser).

South Lake Tahoe BMX track volunteer Chris Lashley assisted with coaching.
