Bruso does his part for Volcanoes again

Tribune staff reports

Salem-Keizer right-handed pitcher Greg Bruso threw his typical game.

Unfortunately, his Salem Volcanoes teammates had what is becoming a typical offensive performance when the South Tahoe High grad pitches.

Bruso pitched three-hit ball over six innings against the Spokane Indians on Friday in Spokane, Wash., and left with the scored tied at 1. Spokane went on to score three runs the next inning for a 4-1 Northwest League baseball victory.

Spokane starter Jonah Bayliss lasted an inning longer and benefitted from the three-run rally to win his third game. He allowed four hits.

“He pitched really well,” said Bayliss of Bruso, whose record remained 3-2. “I feel his pain. I’ve been there.”

Bruso, who has surrendered a stingy two earned runs in his past three starts, struck out six and walked two.

He is scheduled to make his next start against the Eugene Emeralds on Wednesday night in Keizer.
