Butcher, McCollum contribute to Wildcats’ 1-1 start

Former South Tahoe High basketball players Andy Butcher and Travis McCollum helped Chico State split a pair of games in the Mac Martin Tournament last weekend in Chico, Calif.

Butcher started the Wildcats’ tournament opener against Dominican University, scoring six points and making three steals. The Wildcats won 73-64, with McCollum coming off the bench for three steals and two rebounds.

Butcher also scored six points in a reserve role in the Wildcats’ 87-69 defeat to Humboldt State in the tournament finals the following night. Butcher connected on a pair of 3-point goals and pulled down three rebounds.



In only 13 minutes, McCollum grabbed six rebounds and scored three points.

The Wildcats (1-1) play host to UC Davis on Saturday at 8 p.m.
