Complete the Tahoe Rim Trail this summer with TRTA
Make 2015 a year to remember by circling beautiful Lake Tahoe from the rim of the 165-mile Tahoe Rim Trail. The Tahoe Rim Trail Association is proud to announce that open enrollment is now available for both of its popular hike offerings: the Segment Hiking Program and Annual Thru Hike.
Both groups will circle the 165-plus mile rim of the Tahoe Basin on one of the most unique multiuse trails in the world. Both treks offer participants a supported method to complete the entire trail, the opportunity to meet new hiking friends, the chance to disconnect from modern life and embark a traveling adventure through some of the most beautiful scenery in the Northern Sierra Nevada and Carson mountain ranges.
Will 2015 be your year? Don’t let it slip by without completing one of these life-changing adventures. Whether day-hiking or backpacking the TRT, you’ll be sure to discover the beauty of the Tahoe Basin from this “trail like no other.”
ANNUAL THRU HIKE
Each year, trail enthusiasts from around the world gather in Lake Tahoe to traverse the world-renown Tahoe Rim Trail (TRT) by way of the TRTA’s Annual Thru Hike. This 15-day, fully supported backpack trip throughout the Tahoe Basin will occur twice during summer 2015.
The first expedition will run from July 25 to Aug. 8 with the second trip from Aug. 22 to Sept. 5. Participants will be led around TRT by three to four trained and experienced volunteer guides while being met every two to three days with resupply from volunteer Trail Angels. Both expeditions cost $1,725 and have space for up to 12 participants.
Those interested are encouraged to visit http://www.tahoerimtrail.org to learn more about this exciting adventure and to register. Note: this experience is not for first-time backpackers.
FRIDAY SEGMENT HIKING PROGRAM
If backpacking is not your thing but completing the Tahoe Rim Trail is, consider joining TRTA’s Segment Hiking program. There is still room to join the Friday group of 11 participants from around the region to circle the 165-plus mile rim of the Tahoe Basin through 10 weekly day hikes of each of the sections of the TRT from June 19 to Aug. 28.
All participants will receive support from the TRTA through weekly shuttles to the starting trailhead along with trained volunteer guides who lead the hikes each week. The cost for this program is $550.
