Curtzwiler wins all three events at Squaw

Heavenly Ski and Snowboard Foundation freestyle team member Hannah Curtzwiler won both single mogul competitions and one dual moguls race, while teammate Rebecca Roberts placed second in all three events during a Far West freestyle event over the weekend at Squaw Valley.

Nikki Laird also posted three top-10 finishes in the women’s division.

In the men’s division, Marshall Curtzwiler placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in singles and was the top J-3 skier in those events. But it was his win in duals that proved to be historic as it was his first-ever duals victory.

Brandon Hartstein was sixth in one singles event, 14th in the other and tied for fifth in duals. Yamato Kashima finished 11th in singles and tied for 17th in duals.

The team will compete in another Far West freestyle event this weekend at Squaw before returning home to host two events at Heavenly.

Grizzlies’ Bantam squad posts two wins

The Tahoe Grizzlies Bantam (13 and 14) youth ice hockey team posted a pair of victories this past weekend in Fresno. South Lake Tahoe’s Scott Vogelgesang scored three goals and added two assists in Tahoe’s 6-1 win over the Falcons on Saturday.

Then in the Grizzlies’ 7-2 victory over Fresno on Sunday, Kyle Herout scored twice and Josh Lee assisted on both goals.

The Grizzlies will play again on Feb. 2 against the San Jose girls’ under-14 team.
