Discovery Day Camp opens at Heavenly Mountain Resort

Tribune staff report

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE — Adventure season is now underway for kids at Heavenly Mountain Resort. Heavenly’s Discovery Day Camp opened Friday for summer operations, and offers an exciting day of exploration and adventure for children ages 5 to 12.

The camp that runs seven days a week is centrally located out of Heavenly Village. Children will begin their day with a scenic 2.4-mile gondola ride to the top of the resort, including a stop at the observation deck with panoramic views of Lake Tahoe.

Once campers reach the top, the day is filled with varying activities. The activities range from high ropes challenge courses, team building, hiking and relay games to conservation education, nature crafts and scavenger hunts.

Discovery Day Camp 2015 runs daily from June 19 to Aug. 30 and is held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. — 2015-16 winter season pass holders will receive a discount on single days with proof of pass number. For reservations, pricing and additional information, visit http://www.skiheavenly.com/summercamp.
