Estrada, Torres lead Vikings past Colts

Noe Estrada and Alex Torres both had two goals in South Tahoe’s 8-0 victory on Wednesday over Wooster on the road.

Estrada had both of his goals inside of the first 22 minutes on assists from Victor Mariscal, who would finish the day with one goal and a three assists, and the other assist from sophomore Corey Vermillion.

Vermillion would also score late in the first half.

“Tony Garcia was our goalkeeper and he made a couple good saves in the first half,” said head coach Joe Winters.

As a team, Winters said the team looks good, and that its trying to work the ball around to some to some of its other players.

“When we’re playing against teams that look to keep you from scoring you have to work together,” he said.

Devon Blann also scored and Darren Perucci had an assist. Winters also said Alex Yure and Fabian Perez played well.

The Vikings, who are first in the Sierra League at 8-0-2, face Elko, which is currently runner up in the High Desert League (6-0) on Saturday in their last home game. They finish their season with North Valleys and Carson.

“We have three good games coming up so we’re really looking forward to that,” Winters said.
