Final prep ski meet of the season to be held today

After almost two months of slalom and giant slalom races, the Tahoe Basin Ski League season will end today following the conclusion of league championships.

Six teams, including South Tahoe and Whittell, will compete in a dual slalom format race starting at 10 a.m. at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort. The top 32 racers – 16 boys, 16 girls – will move onto the final round, which will be a single elimination format slalom race that will continue until a champion is crowned.

The Vikings’ Tim Suglian and Justin Ferguson should challenge for their boys’ and girls’ respective titles. Both racers have had numerous top-10 finishes this season. The same goes for the Warriors’ Natalie Rastello, who will look to continue her success today. Jeremy Worley has been Whittell’s top boys racer all season and could also break into the top-10.

North Tahoe and Truckee have finished first and second, respectively, in the team overall standings at all seven meets during the regular season. South Tahoe and Whittell have only one third-place finish between them.
