Foul shooting plagues Viking girls hoopsters

Less-than-pleasing free throw shooting contributed to the South Tahoe High girls 53-34 loss to Reed on Tuesday night in Sparks.

Reed connected on 93 percent of its charity offerings, while the Vikings shot 42 percent.

“We have four sophomores on the team. We’ll come along,” said Viking assistant coach Lisa Jaureguito.

South Tahoe, coming off a 1-2 showing in the Lowry Tournament last weekend, trailed the Raiders 26-18 at halftime.

Lindsey Hitt scored 11 points to lead the Vikings. Chantelle Young and Tirah Samura tickled the twine for seven and six points, respectively.
