Goal Posts puts up football numbers
The Goal Post lit the scoreboard like a football game in a 24-13 thrashing of Chevy’s/Sierra-at-Tahoe during South Lake Tahoe Parks and Recreation Men’s B league softball action recently.
The Post opened the first inning with a touchdown and field goal and added another three in the second to secure the win. Bryan Casuscelli swung the biggest of the Post sticks, smacking a homer, triple and double while scoring three runs. But the hit parade was more entertaining than a halftime show. Bill Gardner was 4 for 4 with three doubles and two runs, Ken Clark 3 for 3 with three runs, Ron Carston 3 for 5 with two doubles, Derek Sheets 3 for 4, Jon Hansen 3 for 5 with two doubles and Harley Beats 3 for 5.
Justin James smacked a homer and triple in three hits in the loss. Christian Hicks added three singles and two runs.
Waterwheel 18, Meeks 16
Waterwheel scored four times in its final at-bat. Joel Babich said boo-ya, smacking one-run and two-run homers in the win. Dave Daly added a solo shot. Steve White and Rusty Raynes each added three hits.
Meeks wasn’t without some notable crushing. Rudy Estrada was 5 for 5 with a homer and double and Jon Hetherton was 4 for 5 with a bomb and two doubles. Ricky Reich went deep in three hits and Craig Harner hit one far.
Royal Vahalla/Viking 22, The Brewery 3
This was a Royal, well, whoopin’. Vahalla/Viking went up 5-3 after the first inning, then held Brewery to just four hits. Meanwhile, RV/V was pounding. Grant Ziegler belted a grand slam and finished with five RBIs. R.J. Jones was 4 for 4 with a homer, double and three RBIs. Bill Connelly hit for the cycle and scored four times.
Adam Muskovitz added the Brewery pop with three singles and a run.
Straw Hat 17, JB Landscape 16
Rob Barrena reached base on an error before four straight singles by John Hitchcock, Kelly Cahill, Jim Hane and Sean Fleury, as Straw Hat scored four in its last at-bat.
Barrena added a two-run bomb and single. Mike Heckdorn tripled in three hits, while DJ Silva doubled and tripled. Hane and Fleury each had a trio of base raps.
John Shott smacked two doubles and four RBIs in four hits in the loss.
The Village 12, Paradise Taxi 5
The Village was hurting after the first inning, down 4-1, but soon answered a call to arms and leather. It scored four in the second, two in the third and five in the fifth while holding PT to just one more plate touching.
Frank Smith lead the Village uprising, smacking a double and single while scoring three times. Alvaro Paiz doubled, scored two and drove in one.
Paul Williams drove in two with a trio of singles for PT. Austin Bradford hit it thrice.
AM Construction 24, Caesars 6
AM took down the empire with a 15-run first inning. Andy Mora led the assault, driving in five runs with a double and triple. Ron Guidi launched one deep in the first inning, finishing with three hits and four RBIs. Bob Somers tripled twice. Steve Rapkin had three hits and Jon Anderson stretched a double and triple.
Marshall Bravo and J.T. Taylor each had two hits and two runs.
