Hankoff named Northern Nevada’s best

South Tahoe volleyballer Adrian Hankoff has been selected Northern Nevada Player of the Year for 1997.

The junior led the league in kills and blocks while helping the Vikes to a fifth-place finish in the 1997 NIAA/U.S. Bank State Tournament.

“It’s well deserved. It’s totally obvious that she’s by far the best player in the league. I’m sure it’s what she’s been shooting for,” said Tahoe coach Alan Lambert.

Hankoff, who was disappointed with the team’s overall performance at state, said she was happy to earn the accolade.

“It would mean something more if we would’ve done better at state. But I’ve always wanted to be player of the year. It’s a really huge honor and what you shoot for as a player,” she said.
